Bach House Eisenach
Bach House Eisenach
Opened in 1907 by the Neue Bachgesellschaft, the Bachhaus Eisenach is one of Germany's most popular music museums and houses the largest exhibition on Bach's life and music. Five baroque musical instruments from its extensive collection are demonstrated to visitors every hour in a small concert, including a Silbermann spinet and the oldest Thuringian house organ from 1650.
The exhibition, which was redesigned in 2007, displays over 300 original objects in the historic Bach House and a modern extension. It is complemented by multimedia facilities such as the "Walk-in Music Piece", a 180-degree cinema in which visitors become the focus of four Bach performances. In the same room, visitors can familiarize themselves with Bach's various compositional styles and immerse themselves in the musician's creative process.
The Bach monument by Stuttgart sculptor Adolf von Donndorf stands in front of the Bach House.
