Froebel grave Schweina
Froebel grave Schweina
Friedrich Froebel is buried in the Schweina cemetery. As an enthusiastic follower of Pestalozzi, he dedicated his life and work to preschool education - he coined the term kindergarten. In 1849, he came to Bad Liebenstein, where he initially stayed on the grounds of today's Heinrich Mann Clinic. Duke Bernhard II listened to him in educational matters of his heir to the throne and he soon put the Marientaler Schlösschen at his disposal, where he opened the 1st school for kindergarten teachers. The monument in the Schweina cemetery shows a relief portrait and his play gifts: Dice, Roller and Ball. His motto was: "Come, let us live to our children".
