Graduation house Bad Kissingen
Graduation house Bad Kissingen
The graduation house still bears witness to over 1000 years of salt production in Bad Kissingen.
Since salt production was discontinued in Bad Kissingen in 1968, the graduation house - also known locally as "the salt works" - has been used primarily for health-promoting purposes. This is because the wooden beams of the building are Blackthorn bundle on which Brine trickles down and evaporates. This releases small quantities of purified salt particles into the air and creates a Health-promoting microclimate.
Healthy air is not only available at the North Sea, but also in Franconia!
A circuit leads you through the graduation house along wooden benches that invite you to linger. A visit to the graduation house can be wonderfully combined with a walk. An extensive hiking trail leads you along the Saale river, past the airfield to the rose garden. Alternatively, this route can also be combined with the Excursion steamer "Dampferle" or the GeckoTrain be covered. The historic graduation house was as much as 1.5 km long and was used to extract salt. The original dimensions of the imposing structure can still be guessed today thanks to the stone "footprints".
