Hotel & mountain inn "Tanzbuche"
In the heart of the Thuringian Forest, directly on the famous Rennsteig, lies the
Wellness hotel and mountain inn 720 m above sea level.
The name Dancing beech The mountain inn owes its name to a disheveled beech tree that grew on this spot, around which the boys and girls danced 160 years ago at the St. John's festival.
In 1865, forest warden Orphal lived in a house here with his seven daughters. They were probably so hospitable to the boys that Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha had the forest warden's house torn down without further ado.
After that, a stalking lodge was built on this site, which was then managed for passing hikers from 1870. The tenants changed until 1970. Then a company acquired the restaurant and the land.
It was extended and from 1972 this extension served as a company holiday home.
After extensive renovation work, our hotel and mountain inn has been open to guests from near and far again since May 1994.
Since December 2001, our hotel has also had an indoor swimming pool with sauna, bio sauna, steam bath and solarium.
