Mountain inn "Bobhütte"
Mountain inn "Bobhütte"
The "Bob cabin" is located at 764 m on the northern slope of the Lindenberg in the middle of the Thuringian Forest above Ilmenau.
In 1926, a Bobsleigh run which was considered the steepest track in Europe when it opened on January 9, 1927. The start was located directly at the bobsleigh hut. The lugers had to overcome 240 meters in altitude and a distance of 1,908 m with an average gradient of 13 %! Back then, there was even an electric sledge and passenger elevator.
Today, races no longer take place on the former bobsleigh run. Instead, you can ski all year round along the toboggan run up to the Bob hut hike, which is small jewel box with excellent cuisine has blossomed.
The menu of the family-run house convinces with fine, seasonally changing dishes such as "Rump steak with mango chutney and grilled peppers, served with crushed potatoes", "Tagliatelle in lemon and garlic cream sauce" or "Trout fillet with tomato and sage ragout." All tastes are catered for here, regularly with selected ingredients from the region, the service is excellent. No wonder that locals and guests alike are drawn up to the Bobhütte.
A Top recommendation among Ilmenau's excursion venues! However, prior registration is recommended.
