Star Bridge Weimar
Star Bridge Weimar
The original three-arched star bridge from the middle of the 17th century was extended by a fourth arch when the castle was rebuilt in 1794, replacing the former drawbridge. The round openings served then, as they do today, as a flood passage. The stairway from the park to the bridge was only uncovered during the renovation in 1994/95. The name Sternbrücke (Star Bridge) goes back to the nearby baroque palace garden with its star-shaped pathways.
