RegioBOXES Reitzengeschwenda
The RegieBox in Reitzengeschwenda is located in the immediate vicinity of the Reitzengeschwenda Folklore Museum. Reitzengeschwenda lies to the west of Drognitz on a plateau in the south-eastern Thuringian Slate Mountains to the left of the Hohenwarte reservoir on the Saale. The village is a planned Franconian clearing village from the 12th/13th century with settlers from the Kronach and Arnstadt area. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1378 as "Richtingswende". The part of the name "swende" stands for "roden". The village belonged to the Electoral Saxon district of Ziegenrück until 1815 and, after it was ceded to the Prussian district of Ziegenrück at the Congress of Vienna, the village belonged to this district until 1945. Today, Reitzengeschwenda is a district of Drognitz in the county of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt.
