One of the most beautiful destinations for families is the Petersberg in Nordhausen, which offers a fantastic view of the city and versatile play and sports facilities. The Petersberg is very centrally located in the heart of the almost 1100 year old city of Nordhausen. The area was completely redesigned in 2004 as part of the Thuringian State Garden Show. With its many play and leisure facilities, the former state garden show grounds make children's hearts beat faster. Water games at the Petri Tower, a large playground for climbing, shimmying, swinging and sliding, a water playground in the Petersberg Garden, a basketball court and a small soccer field are just some of the stations for young visitors to the Petersberg. Also popular is the large skater facility with elements such as a half-pipe, bench, punchbowl, pyramids, and smaller and larger edges. The brave dare to climb the 20-meter high climbing tower, which allows the ascent in various degrees of difficulty. Supervised climbing takes place here every Friday from 2 to 7 pm.  

The Petersberg in Nordhausen also invites you to take a walk. In the center of the Petersberg stands the 62-meter-high Petri Tower, one of the distinctive church towers that characterize the silhouette of Rolandstadt Nordhausen. The "green lung" of the site is the terraced Petersberg Garden with its seasonally changing planting, which runs along the historic medieval town wall. Here, too, there are various play facilities for children and places to hide, play, linger and relax. The Petersberg in Nordhausen is thus a popular and very accessible destination for all generations, because it is easily accessible by streetcar and, due to its central location directly in the city center, also easily accessible on foot.
