Glass art Andre Gutgesell

As a native of Lauscha, André Gutgesell has been familiar with the art of glassblowing since childhood. So it made sense to take up this traditional profession himself. After training as a glass designer in Lauscha, André Gutgesell completed the associated Master studies in Sonneberg after reunification and then trained as a "designer in the trade" in Erfurt. "I operate in the field of tension between applied and fine art," says Gutgesell, describing his artistic approach. Starting with the actual glass vessel, André Gutgesell develops his glass art in an abstract-sculptural direction. He has already been honored with prizes for this, including third place at the most prominent contemporary glass art competition in Germany, the Immenhausen Glass Prize.

In the Workshop gallery "Glaskunst Gutgesell" on the Krämerbrücke in Erfurt you will find handcrafted and artistic glass. Whether figurative, as a vessel, jewelry or object - everything here revolves around glass!
