New Zealand
New Zealand is located near the border triangle of Hesse, Thuringia and Lower Saxony, east of Witzenhausen and northwest of the district town of Eschwege in the valley of the Siesterbach, a right tributary of the Werra. The village is framed by mountains of the Neuseesen-Werleshäuser heights, such as the Winterberg (375 m) in the east, the Witzgenstein (336.3 m) in the west and the Stürzliede (354.2 m) and the adjacent Stürzlieder Berg in the north.
As part of the Witzenhausen cherry region, Neuseesen also shines in a sea of white blossoms every year in April/early May. Since the beginning of the 19th century, stone fruit cultivation has become one of the most important sources of income for the town of Witzenhausen and the surrounding area.
The Teufelskanzel, which is not far from Hanstein Castle, can be easily reached on foot from Neuseesen.
