Prößdorfer See is a natural bathing lake in Thuringia. The lake was created as an open-cast mining lake after the Phönix lignite mine was abandoned at the end of the 1950s after more than 10 years of mining activity. Since then, Lake Prößdorf has been used as a bathing lake. This body of water in Thuringia was initially used by the population of the surrounding villages until a bungalow settlement was built on the western shore of the lake at the end of the 1960s. This still exists today and covers a large part of the western shore of Lake Prößdorf. Since then, many visitors from out of town have been coming to this bathing lake in Thuringia year after year.

There are also a number of good fishing spots for anglers on Prößdorfer See. The bungalow settlement is separated from the western shore of the lake by a narrow strip of trees, with the woodland reaching close to the shore in many places, although there is also a wonderful natural beach with fine sand in the middle of the western shore. Access is also very good on the eastern shore of the water, although this shore area, like the other shore areas of the water, is lined by a narrow to wider belt of trees.

The bathing lake is located in the Leipzig lowland bay. The village of Prößdorf is a district of the town of Lucka, which lies to the north-east of the lake. The state border between Thuringia and Saxony runs a little further north - behind the northern shore of the lake. The northern bank of the water already belongs to Saxony. The Prößdorfer Weg leads from Lucka close to the shore and ends near the north-eastern bank of the water. The village of Hemmendorf lies to the north-east of this lake. Access to the lake is provided by a narrow road that leads directly to the Prößdorf sports field, which is located near the north-western shore of the lake. There is also a playground on the western shore of the lake. Another playground is located further north near the north-western shore of this bathing lake in Thuringia. The two playgrounds are both located on a narrow road that runs along the entire western shore of the lake. This road leads further south to country road 1361, which runs south of the lake. The road leads directly to Breitenhain, a village near the south-eastern shore of the lake. Falkenhainer Straße runs parallel to Landstraße 1361 from Birkenhain, which runs directly past the southern shore of the lake and, near the south-western shore, merges into Trift Straße, which leads out of the southern development area of Prößdorf, which merges further north into Hauptstraße, which in turn leads to the bungalow settlement, which is located directly on the lake.
