The more than 1000-year-old mountain and rose town of Sangerhausen lies in a scenic location on the mountain slopes of the southern Harz, which here form the northern end of the Golden Aue.

In the historic old town of Sangerhausen, which is under monument protection, you can find the Göpenstraße, the Kornmarkt, the Renaissance town hall, the patrician houses and the late Gothic Jacobi church as well as the oldest building of the town, the Ulrichskirche, which belongs to the Romanesque Road and is one of the most important sacral buildings of the entire Harz and Kyffhäuser region.

With the Europa-Rosarium, the largest collection of roses in the world, Sangerhausen is home to a very special treasure. The Spengler Museum, the regional museum for Sangerhausen and the surrounding area, offers visitors a special cultural experience with interesting and valuable exhibits, texts and pictures on geology, natural history, the Ice Age, prehistory and early history, as well as the history of Sangerhausen. The ErlebnisZentrum Bergbau Röhrigschacht Wettelrode is another attraction in Sangerhausen. After a cable ride over the original shaft hoisting system, the visitor is shown the mining of copper ore in the show mine at a depth of 283 meters after a ride on the mine train.
