The Bleiloch reservoir is located in the Thuringian Slate Mountains Upper Saale Nature Park and extends from the lead mountains of the Gräfenwarth dam to the beginning of the Rennsteig trail in Blankenstein. With a length of 28 km and a water volume of 215 million m³, the reservoir forms the largest reservoir in Germany. The fjord-like landscape is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Sailing, surfing, boating, paddling, stand-up paddling or fishing - everything is possible. There are also several campsites on the shores of the Bleiloch Reservoir. The mountain ranges around the reservoir are a popular hiking and biking area.
