Bollstedt

Bollstedt is a district of Mühlhausen. The village lies in the Unstrut floodplain, which is up to two kilometers wide, between Mühlhausen (town) and Bad Langensalza. The lowest point of the village is 182 m above sea level in the Unstrut valley, the highest at 249 m above sea level on the vineyard in the north. The village is bordered to the west by the straightened Unstrut, which is dammed on both sides. The village of Bollstedt was first mentioned in 876 AD.

The St. Boniface church in the center of the village is worth seeing. You can still find former farms in the well-kept townscape. Adonis flowers bloom in spring on the Keuper hills to the north and east of Bollstedt.

The painter Siegfried Böhning is at home in Bollstedt. Local festivals such as the fair, St. John's bonfire, fire department festival and Advent market are traditionally celebrated. Bollstedt has regularly taken part in the "Our village has a future" competition since 2014. In 2020, this was even rewarded with the highest honor of the national competition, the "Gold Medal".

Bollstedt is located on the Unstrut cycle path and can be explored on stage 2 from Mühlhausen to Bad Langensalza.
