Nickelsdorf
Nickelsdorf
Nickelsdorf is a hamlet of Crossen an der Elster in the Saale-Holzland district of Thuringia. First mentioned in a document in 1109, the hamlet was established after the settlement of a manor for the cultivation of the surrounding land.
Even today, the area is still characterized by agriculture and an association that preserves the 400-year-old Nickeldorf manor The farm is enlivened with a wide range of activities and promotes the development of rural areas with a youth guest house, unusual accommodation options such as a barrel house and a creative workshop for old handicraft techniques. There is a wood-fired oven for baking pizza or bread, a farm garden based on historical models and rare breeds of domestic animals. The Gutsherrnschenke and Tenne with its extensive outdoor area are ideal for events.
With its location high above the Weiße Elster, the hamlet is a good starting point for excursions into the Zeitz Forestfor canoe tours on the White magpie or for a tour on the Elster cycle path.
