Kursdorf

Kursdorf is a district of the city of Eisenberg in Thuringia.

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1268. Kursdorf belonged to the Wettin district office of Eisenberg, which was under the sovereignty of various Ernestine duchies due to several partitions in the course of its existence. In 1826, the village and the southern part of the Eisenberg district office and the town of Eisenberg were transferred from the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg to the Duchy of Saxe-Altenburg.

The previously independent municipality of Kursdorf was incorporated into Eisenberg on March 8, 1994.

There is a stone cross about 500 meters south-east of the village on the main road. Margrave Eckbert III is said to have been slain by Emperor Henry IV at this spot. There are also Hunting 88 two burial mounds, which are assigned to the Neolithic period.
