Rödelwitz
Rödelwitz
The small village (310 m above sea level, 84 inhabitants) is the only one in Hexengrund that is not located directly on the Wiedbach, but at the foot of the Schauenforst with its legendary castle ruins from the 13th century.
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1083 as Rodelewiz. The interior of the small church is a listed building, as are some beautiful half-timbered houses. Brass music is cultivated in the village. The "Rödelwitzer Musikanten" are known far beyond the boundaries of the municipality. The Schauenforst Festival, organized by the Schauenforst Castle Association, attracts numerous visitors every year in July.
Hiking trails lead to "Hohe Straße" and from there to Spaal, Reinstädter Grund and Orlamünde.
