The municipality of Crispendorf with the districts of Erkmannsdorf and Dörflas were incorporated into the town of Schleiz on 01.01.2019. Since then, Crispendorf, Erkmannsdorf and Dörflas have been a single district of Schleiz.

Crispendorf stretches along the Aubach, which flows into the Wisenta. The Wisenta dam with the Wisenta pumped storage plant is located on the southern edge. The "Obere Saale" landscape conservation area covers large parts of this region.
