The small village of Haussömmern, also known as Hugissommeringen in the 13th century, is situated on the southern slope of the Heilinger Heights in the shallow valley of the Singerbach stream.

The village belongs to the street village type. The houses stand on both sides of a wide village street, which widens into a circle at one end. At that time, the church, school and village tavern were usually located in the open space created by this.

The three bells still ring out in the beautifully renovated choir tower church of St. Ambrose, first mentioned in a document in 1498. The largest has the name "Liebe" (love), the middle one bears the inscription "Friede" (peace) and the small one shows the word "Glaube" (faith).

The municipality also has many lovingly restored half-timbered houses, a large village green and a fire department. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture or in small craft businesses.
