Frankenblick
Frankenblick is the name of a unified municipality in the district of Sonneberg in the Free State of Thuringia, which was created on January 1, 2012 through the merger of the municipalities of Effelder-Rauenstein and Mengersgereuth-Hämmern.
Frankenblick is located in the south-western part of the Franconian district of Sonneberg. The municipal area borders the Franconian Forest to the east and the Thuringian Slate Mountains to the north. The main part of Frankenblick lies on the Schalkauer Platte, also known as the Schalkauer Plateau. The border of the municipal area in the south is also the border between the district of Sonneberg and Thuringia and Bavaria. The town of Schalkau borders the municipal area to the west, the town of Neuhaus am Rennweg and the town of Steinach to the north, the district town of Sonneberg to the east and Rödental and Neustadt bei Coburg (both in the district of Coburg, Bavaria) to the south.
