The administrative community of Rositz was founded on 01.01.1993 with the member municipalities of Rositz, Kriebitzsch, Lödla and Monstab and is located in the north-western part of the district between the towns of Altenburg and Meuselwitz. Since 01.01.2019, the municipalities of Göhren, Göllnitz, Mehna and Starkenberg have also been members of the administrative community of Rositz following the dissolution of VG Altenburger Land.

In the past, the region was heavily influenced by lignite mining and the chemical industry. Today, smaller and larger companies have settled in the towns and industrial estates. Many areas are also used for agriculture. A special feature is the cultivation of hops. The member municipalities show great commitment in terms of culture, recreational and educational facilities. Each municipality operates a modern daycare center, a youth club, a senior citizens' and/or women's meeting place and sports facilities.

The newly renovated, modern outdoor pool in Rositz with paddling pool, 50-metre swimming lanes, diving tower, 68-metre slide, games and beach volleyball court is popular in the summer months. Cultural events take place regularly in the Kulturhaus Rositz.

The region's sights include the listed churches in Monstab, Lödla and Rositz as well as the church in Kriebitzsch founded by Emperor Frederick Barbarossa (1125-1190). A special landmark is the restored water tower in Rositz, which can be seen far beyond the town limits. The idyllic half-timbered houses enchant visitors everywhere. A romantic eye-catcher is the "Alte Schmiede" in Kriebitzsch with its typical farm garden, which is still preserved today. The charming rural area is also ideal for cycling tours; the network of cycle paths is well developed and signposted.
