Cordobang is a district of Bad Blankenburg
(incorporated 1994)
Located 410 m above sea level on a plateau between the lower Schwarzatal valley and the Rinnetal valley, the village of Cordobang has a church worth seeing, a fairground with a bakery, a Kneipp basin, herb garden, table tennis and play areas and is maintained by the local heritage association "Halbe Welt" e.V. and the volunteer fire department in particular. The highlight is the annual summer festival.
The village was also supported by extensive funding from the Bad Blankenburg municipal budget and the village renewal funding program of the Free State of Thuringia. As a result, the restructuring from a mountain farming village to a tourist community, which had already begun in the 1970s, gained further momentum.
The place name of the settlement, which was already mentioned in the 11th century, developed from Curzewang, where "wang" stands for a mountain meadow and probably refers to a "short mountain meadow".
