Bollberg
Bollberg
Bollberg is a district of the town of Stadtroda in the Saale-Holzland district. The small village is conveniently located between the A4 freeway in the south and the Papiermühle stop on the so-called Holzlandbahn, the railroad line between Weimar, Jena and Gera, in the north. With its location, Bollberg is a good starting point for decelerating hikes in the charming forested Zeitzgrund.
Only about 1.5 kilometers from the village center, the well-maintained main hiking trail runs along the deeply incised Zeitzbach valley. Along the way are several mills, some of which have been converted into inns. If you start the hike from Bollberg in an easterly direction, after a short time you will come across the Janis Mill with equestrian farm, inn and pension. It is worthwhile to spend several days in the Zeitzgrund and enjoy various highlights such as the Pitch furnace model, the Nature trail "Teacher Bocklisch Way", the monuments Large and Small Rabsburg or the Forest playground to visit. Also the Teufelstal, a small side valley of the Zeitzgrund between Bollberg and Schleifreisen, offers a wildly romantic photographic backdrop.
