Steinheid is a state-approved health resort and is located on the ridge of the Thuringian Slate Mountains directly on the famous German hiking trail, the Rennsteig. It is an excellent starting point for hikes along the Rennsteig. In winter, the small mountain town is a snow-sure destination for winter sports enthusiasts.
