Jonaswalde is surrounded by meadows, fields and forests in the southernmost tip of the beautiful Altenburger Land region. The village is characterized by large four-sided farmsteads, lovingly restored half-timbered houses and modern residential buildings, which provide living and sometimes working space for the local farms and various trades.

But our small community of 310 people has more to offer than just an idyllic life surrounded by meadows, fields and forests in the southernmost tip of the Altenburger Land.

 Village life is decisively shaped by the local people and associations, which you can see for yourself at the Jonaswald tractor cinema, the large Nischwitz Christmas market or other festivities. Or visit our small village store, which offers a full range of everyday groceries and local specialties, as well as friendly conversation.

 However, we are also working in a future-oriented manner to further develop life in our two villages of Nischwitz and Jonaswalde. With the DSL connection and the expansion of the daycare center, two important building blocks have already been implemented. In future, the focus will now be on creating needs-oriented living space for young families, i.e. living here and working in the surrounding urban centers, which you can reach within a short time thanks to the good transport connections. Our ancestors already knew that this is a good place to live when they settled here over 800 years ago.
