The unified municipality of Krauthausen with its districts of Krauthausen, Ütteroda, Pfersdorf/Spichra, Lengröden and the Deubachshof industrial and commercial area is located to the north-west of Eisenach in a beautiful scenic location. The A4 highway forms the southern border. To the west you can see into Hesse, to the north the forests of the Hoheleite and the fields of Creuzburg form the natural boundary, while to the east the Moseberg, Eichelberg, Reitenberg and Madelungen define the border. The total area of the territory comprises 1430 hectares of land, forests, fields, mountains and, of course, the villages that characterize the unified municipality of Krauthausen. Krauthausen was first mentioned in a document in 1250.
