The municipality of Vollmershain in the idyllic Altenburger Land region stretches for around four kilometers along the Sprotte river. The highest elevation is the 306-metre-high Mühlberg hill. The Thuringian State Institute for Environment and Geology classifies the municipality as part of the Ronneburg farming and mining area.
