Trostadt is a small district of the municipality of Reurieth in the district of Hildburghausen in Thuringia. The district of Trostadt is located in the Werra Valley near Hildburghausen. Trostadt was first mentioned in the document book of the Fulda monastery in 776-796.

The medieval monastery of Trostadt was built on the site. After the Reformation, the monastery was secularized and Trostadt became an estate. In terms of sovereignty, the village initially belonged to the county of Henneberg in the Amt Themar, after 1583 to various Saxon duchies and from 1826 to 1918 to Saxony-Meiningen. In 1920, it became part of the state of Thuringia.
