Neunheilingen
Neunheilingen
The village of Neunheilingen with its 480 inhabitants is located in the middle of the undulating hilly landscape of the Heilingen Heights. Neunheilingen was first mentioned in documents of the Fulda monastery in 1158.
Neunheilingen Castle has always played an important role in the history of the communities. Until 1819, the Count of Werther and his wife Countess Johanna Luise, née Reichsfrau von und zum Stein were the owners of the castle.
In Dec. 1776, the count and countess spent some time at the Weimar court. It was here that Goethe met Countess Luise. Subsequently, there was constant correspondence between the poet prince Goethe and the countess.
The cultural and sporting life is shaped by the fire department association, the Whitsun and tradition association, the choral society and a strong bowling club, which is in the game with several teams. The senior citizens meet regularly for their afternoons. In addition to a shopping center, there are two restaurants, which are often used for family celebrations. Some handicraft enterprises as well as agricultural enterprises determine the economic side of the municipality.
Neunheilingen is a quiet lovable place, which is constantly changing and developing.
