The municipality of Burgk with the districts of Burgkhammer and Isabellengrün was incorporated into the town of Schleiz on 31.12.2019. Since then, Burgk, Burgkhammer and Isabellengrün have been a single district of Schleiz. Before the incorporation, Burgk was the most sparsely populated municipality in Thuringia with a population density of around six inhabitants per square kilometer.
The village is idyllically situated at the foot of the Saale and is a popular excursion destination for young and old with its numerous attractions.
