Storchsdorf
Storchsdorf
With 70 inhabitants, Storchsdorf is the second smallest and one of the highest villages in the former unified municipality of Rottenbach, now the town of Königsee. It was first mentioned in 1411 in the list of properties belonging to Blankenburg. In 1950, Storchsdorf, which at that time had 103 inhabitants, was incorporated into Rottenbach, with which it had already been closely linked in the past. There are still a few building plots available in the new development area with a magnificent view of the Thuringian Forest. A number of hiking trails make it possible to take a trip through the woods to the surrounding villages such as Solsdorf, Leutnitz, Quittelsdorf, Rottenbach (with its forest swimming pool) and Paulinzella (with its monastery ruins and two museums), where you can enjoy the peace and beauty of the forest.
