Silbach, a district of the town of Schleusingen, has a population of around 100 and was first mentioned in a document in 1251; it was founded by the wealthy family of the Lords of Kühndorf.

Silbach lies on the edge of the Vessertal biosphere reserve and offers nature lovers many special features and rarities.

The unspoiled nature in this area also has a positive effect on the adjacent areas and is particularly inviting for rest and relaxation.

The altitude of between 400-630 m above sea level makes it ideal for hiking and winter vacations. The small village is located approx. 3 km from the village of Hinternah and can be easily reached by car via a newly built road.

The attractions of the very quiet and idyllic village of Silbach are a bell house (formerly the home of the writer J. Knappe) and a village fountain.
