Vacha "Gateway to the Rhön" in the Werragrund, popular starting point for hiking and cycling in the Rhön and Thuringian Forest. The Stone Bridge has led the way to the town since 1342. "Burg Wendelstein", now a local history museum, displays Thuringia's largest collection of dolls. The medieval market is dominated by the "Widemark" town hall, built in 1613. The remains of the Servite monastery have preserved their Gothic wall paintings. The 450-kilometre-long Ecumenical Pilgrimage Route runs between Vacha and Görlitz. It is a classic route for individual travelers, with simple hostels every 20 to 30 kilometers. The trail, which follows the historic Via Regio trade route, is marked with a yellow shell on a blue background.
