Dietzenrode is an idyllically situated village in the Walsetal valley. It is bordered on one side by the Dietzenröder Stein and on the other by the Höhberg. The Walse meanders through the narrow valley, which flows into the Werra after a few kilometers.

Dietzenrode, together with the neighboring village of Vatterode, is a municipality that belongs to the administrative community of Uder.
