Einhausen on the Werra

Einhausen an der Werra is a municipality in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia. It belongs to the Dolmar-Salzbrücke administrative community and has around 600 inhabitants. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1010 and celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 2010. Einhausen is situated at an angle between the rivers Werra and Hasel, which surround the village on three sides. The landscape is characterized by green meadows, forests and mountains such as the Döttberg, the Langenberg and the Halsberg. Einhausen can only be reached via bridges that were built in the 16th and 18th centuries. The Church of Einhausen is a former castle complex from the 14th century, which was later converted into a church. It is surrounded by a circular wall with a gate tower and has a remarkable wooden altar. Other historic buildings are the Arched gates from the 17th century, which belonged to an old feudal estate, and the Drawing and pumping well from the 15th centurywhich is reminiscent of the laborious task of fetching water. Einhausen is an idyllic place with a lot of history and nature that invites you to linger and explore.
