Schöngleina
Schöngleina
Schöngleina is a village in the Saale-Holzland district. First mentioned in documents in the 12th century, the village was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Glina - the name of the village before the renaming. The village is historically and economically characterized by the "Alte Rittergut", the seat of the Lords of Glina and subsequent owners. This is still indicated by the street names, the church, the vacant rectory and the manor, which is now privately owned.
Even remains of the old water supply of the village and the estate can be discovered in the area. Within walking distance is the Jena-Schöngleina airfield with a restaurant. If you want to explore the Kernberge-Wöllmisse, the "Tuscany of the East" around Bad Sulza, the Zeitzgrund and the Mühltal or the valley villages of the Roda, you can book a sightseeing flight. But Schöngleina is also a good starting point from the ground for hikes in the Kernbergen-Wöllmisse and the Zeitzgrund.
