Quittelsdorf, a district of the town of Königsee, was mentioned in documents as a parish village as early as 1292. The village lies on both sides of the Rinne. To the north of the Rinne, it is surrounded by a forest belt and to the south by fields, rock faces, small forest islands and hills. The farmers who lived here had to pay taxes to Blankenburg and later to the Paulinzella monastery. There are numerous hiking trails, for example via the "Hegesäule" to Storchsdorf and from there along the Thüringenweg to Paulinzella with its 12th century monastery ruins, the museum on the history of the monastery, forestry and hunting in the hunting lodge and the "From stone axe to chainsaw" exhibition in the forestry office. Via Fröbitz and past the Trippstein you reach the beautiful Schwarzatal valley and in the direction of Leutnitz via the Baropturm tower and Greifenstein Castle you reach Bad Blankenburg.
