Hainspitz

Hainspitz is a municipality in the Saale-Holzland district in the northeast of Thuringia. Located about five kilometers west of Eisenberg, the community is easily accessible via the B7 and A9 and the Hermsdorfer Kreuz interchange.

The origin of the place name goes back to a moated castle from the Sorbs period, of which a part of the moat still exists today. This gives the Park at Manor, which was built on the ruins of the moated castle, its shape and is like the Lake Hainspitz an attraction for hikers and nature lovers. The landscape protection and FFH area Hainspitz Lake is the largest natural lake in Thuringia. In autumn, about 300 different bird species rest at the lake on their migration to the south.

Through the vast forests of the Mühltal's there are good connections to the county seat Eisenberg and to the spa Bad Klosterlausnitz has an extensive network of cycling and hiking trails. But also the Mühltal itself invites to recreation and activities in nature. A visit to the Mill miniature park at the Robertsmühle, Kremser rides or the borrowing of a pony for a Ride.

The Mühltal lies on the 80 kilometer long Thuringian Mill Cycle Route and the Thuringian city chain.
