Beberstedt

Beberstedt is a village on the edge of the Obereichsfeld and is part of the rural municipality of Dingelstädt in the Eichsfeld district. Beberstedt was first mentioned at the end of the 12th century, but it is assumed that the agricultural area was settled earlier. Worth seeing in the village are the baroque Catholic St. Martinus Church and the Village green with old lime trees and a stone table. Beberstedt is known nationally and regionally among people of the Catholic faith. On Feast of the Assumption For over 250 years, a pilgrimage to the only Rosary altar in the Eichsfeld region. Combined with the Pilgrimage is a blessing of herbs and flowers, the so-called Consecration of herbs.

At the highest elevation, the Hellborn 493.4 meters, about one kilometer north of the village stands the Three lime trees natural monument. The oldest of the original three summer lime trees is now around 360 years old. Seating invites you to linger. In good weather, you can see as far as the upper Unstrut valley and the Brocken and Inselsberg mountains.

Numerous other excursion destinations in the immediate vicinity are ideal for hiking, pilgrimages and cycling in the region of the municipality and the Eichsfeld. Among other things, the 260 km long Eichsfeld hiking trail past Beberstedt. Worth seeing is the Mühlhäuser moata rampart in the north-west of the district town and former free imperial city Mulhouse. Built in the middle of the 14th century, it served to protect the royal estate from robber baron raids. The entire length of the 26 km long Mühlhäuser Landgraben can be hiked along a footpath.
