Between picturesque parklands: Today, around 700 residents live in the Tiefurt district. The first documented mention of Tiefurt as "Difurt" dates back to 1206 - about 50 years later, a parish can be found in the records of the village. Today, St. Christopher's Church is an important landmark of Tiefurt. In 1781, Duchess Anna Amalia had parts of a former knight and chamber estate of the sovereigns converted into a small castle. The ruler and patron of the arts spent a full 25 summer years here. In 1998, UNESCO included Tiefurt Palace and Park in the World Heritage Site "Classical Weimar".
