The Fröbel town of Oberweißbach is nestled in a charming low mountain landscape (570-700 m altitude). The Oberweißbach mountain railroad, which is unique with its rope construction, is downright famous. In about 18 minutes, the railroad overcomes a difference in altitude of about 320 meters. Also worth seeing are the Fröbel Tower and the birthplace of the great educator and founder of kindergartens, Friedrich Fröbel. It is one of the most rewarding destinations in the "Thuringian Herb Garden".
