Geba
Geba
To the west of Meiningen, on the Rhön hiking mountain "Hohe Geba", lies the small village of Geba. The village was formed by the amalgamation of the Alter Hof, the Grauer Hof am Knoppholz and the Klingerrod Hof. In 1791, after the Croats burned down the former church, a new one was built, which, as small as it is, stands out due to its octagonal shape.
The nearby Gebaberg, at 751 m above sea level the highest mountain in the north-eastern Vorderrhön, offers a unique panoramic view in all seasons. This is where the main and secondary hiking trails of the Rhönklub meet and the Geba plateau with its information point, Rhön culture garden and Rhönklub hut forms the starting point of the EXTRATOUR Gebaweg premium trail.
