Altersbach was first mentioned in 1340 and developed mainly through mining due to its location on the Arzberg. In the 19th century, the small village, which is particularly impressive due to its harmonious location surrounded by woods and meadows, was characterized by agriculture and the nail forging trade.
Today, the tranquil village is an Eldorado for hikers and nature lovers.
