The community of Oehrenstock, since March 1994 a district of the town of Langewiesen and since July 2018 a district of Ilmenau, lies on the northeastern edge of the Thuringian Forest in the valley of the Oehre at an altitude of 560 to 600 m above sea level. The wooded surroundings of the village offer charming views of the Thuringian mountains and hills, the Goethe city of Ilmenau and the foothills of the Thuringian Forest.
