Coming from Zeutsch, the first village in the beautiful Hexengrund (200 m above sea level, 148 inhabitants) was first mentioned in documents in 1350 as Puzcelsdorf. The street village is divided by the Wiedbach stream, which flows through it in an easterly direction.

A natural stone wall surrounds the small, listed church, which was founded in 1601 but only acquired its current appearance in the 19th century. The old half-timbered parish hall has been completely reconstructed. 

The name "Hexengrund" for the graceful side valley of the Saale is not, as is often mistakenly assumed, a reference to the fact that female creatures of the same name lived here, but has its origins in viticulture, which was practiced on the southern slopes of the valley for centuries. The so-called "Hecker" worked the vineyards back then.
