Bodenrode is a Catholic parish village in the lowlands of the Leine valley with 495 inhabitants (12/2004). It is located 10.5 km southwest of Worbis, on the Halle-Kassel railroad line. The Leine villages are among the oldest in Eichsfeld. There are still many well-preserved half-timbered houses in Bodenrode.

Bodenrode has an elementary school. The Angeranlage with its group of lime trees, which stands out clearly in the middle of the village, is a special sight.

Of particular note here is the "Gemeindeschänke", built in 1785, which today houses the headquarters of the "Leinetal" administrative community. This building - on the main street - which was inaugurated in October 1994 after three years of renovation, not only stands out due to its exterior and baroque architectural style, but also has a history that has been handed down over the years.
