Berga/Elster
Berga/Elster
The gateway to the beautiful Elster Valley
The picturesque town of Berga lies in the Weiße Elster valley, between Greiz and Gera. Wooded hills surround the town, whose history can be traced back to 1216 and which is not far from Gera, Greiz and Weida. Its location in the middle of nature makes Berga the ideal starting point for nature lovers, hikers, cyclists and horse riders, who will find a well-signposted network of trails throughout the area.
The town itself is characterized by the large market square in front of the town hall, which was transformed into a park in 1903 according to the plans of the princely park director of Greiz. In the shade of the plane trees, ash trees and oaks, perfect relaxation from a day out in nature is guaranteed.
