Camburg
Camburg
Camburg, the small country town, lies exactly in the middle between Jena and Naumburg. Since earliest times it has been divided by the Saale. No other town on the river was fortified from both sides in the Middle Ages. On the left of the Saale is the "Thuringian side of town" with the church of St. Laurentius and the Amtshof, and on the right is the "Meissen side of town" with Camburg.
Camburg is a small town characterized by a very charming landscape with about 3000 inhabitants. As the largest town in the northern part of the region "Middle Saale Valley around Jena", Camburg belongs to the Saale-Holzland district. The university town of Jena, which is only 20 km away, is the region's main center. There are also good neighborly connections - even beyond the state borders - to the cathedral city of Naumburg.
