The national park community of Berka vor dem Hainich, first mentioned in a document in 1035, is located at the foot of the Hainich National Park. Many half-timbered houses, intact farmsteads, the castle and the church in rococo style characterize a well-rounded townscape. The well-developed paths with their hiking spots offer ideal conditions for guided hikes and bus tours to many well-known excursion destinations. In addition, there are six circular hiking trails around the village with different degrees of difficulty and lengths.
