With its sculptures and reliefs, the Plastik-Park Leuna is a unique testimony to the visual arts of the 1950s and 1960s in the GDR.
It is the only major green space in the garden city of Leuna and is of great importance for the maintenance and development of the city's open spaces.
The park on the edge of the garden city settlement, on the western high bank of the Saale, is also the starting point for walks along the river and into the floodplain lowlands of the eastern bank of the Saale. The Saale cycle path runs below the park.

Garden City Leuna
With the establishment of the Badische Anilin- und Soda-Fabrik (BASF) in 1916 and the construction of the ammonia plant south of Merseburg, housing was needed for thousands of workers in the area, which was dominated by agriculture.
Commissioned to plan the estate and inspired by the English garden city movement, the architect Wilhelm Karl Willy August Barth (*1877 in Wiesbaden, † 1951 in Leuna) planned the Neu-Rössen factory estate as a garden city. The result was a successful combination of industry, work, life, living, nature and culture.
In 1996, Leuna was included in the nationwide program for the "Promotion of urban redevelopment and development measures". The results of 20 years of urban redevelopment are impressive: A green, liveable and lovable town that is now the largest listed area in the Saale district.
